Outreach Committee The outreach committee continues to work on the projects identified in our initial meeting in the late winter. Anyone is welcome to participate in our group. The priority at this time is reading camp and raising money to provide a scholarship for our camper from Holy Trinity. Father Mark and I attended the 20th anniversary celebration for AMEN House. Jimmie Persley, the director, provided the overview of the mission and ministry of the organization and expressed concerns that the needs of many in the community may go unmet if contributions continue to decrease. Please support this important work in the community by giving of your time and talents. Chuck Pittenger continues to provide updates on the situation in Haiti. For more information check the website at www.er-d.org. We are in the early stages of planning an event in the Fall concerning the needs of the people of Haiti. |

Reading Camp News This is the 9th year of Reading Camp and the movement is growing. Not only are there twelve camps this year, but new Dioceses have become involved in Ohio, Kentucky and Liberia. Holy Trinity is continuing discernment and anticipation of starting a Reading Camp at Holy Trinity in the summer of 2011. Sandie Mills, Holy Trinity's Reading Camp coordinator, has been engaged in a city-wide effort of securing partners for the effort. Holy Trinity will remain the anticipated site and its people the chief steward of the effort, but our hope is to engage the community at-large. Please stay posted for ways to assist in the effort. Or, e-mail Sandie Mills at sandie.g.mills@gmail.com. One of the ways we can prepare is to visit other Reading Camps to see how they operate. We would love to have you join them as either a visitor or volunteer. If you are interested, please let them know as soon as you can! The details about Reading Camp and volunteering (including an online link to sign up and tell you what you need to do) are here: http://www.diolex.org/readingcamp. Consider these options: Mission House, Lexington - June 14-18, Cathedral Domain - June 20-26, Emmanuel, Winchester - June 28-July 2, Pine Mountain Settlement School - July 11-17, Covington - July 12-16. |
